Villaluenga Pics

We spent a lovely day there

Villaluenga del Rosario trail

That´s us! 1ºESO and the vocational training cycling group trekked to the Villaluenga del Rosario trail today and had a great time. How our bodies will feel tomorrow however, is another story. We were pushed to our limits, girl, boy, man, woman. All of us came down that hill (4+ hours later) yelling "suelo!!!" This park is home to many Mother Nature's beauties. We then were faced with this lovely climbing wall immediately after our trekking extravaganza and surprisingly the students harnessed up. Champions!

We ended the day with orienteering and drizzling rain. Needless to say, it was a physically successful day. The last group of 1ºESO will go in two weeks, so more to come I´m sure!

On St Valentine's Day our students wrote these cute cards

What: XXVI Cross de San Sebastian

What: XXVI Cross de San Sebastian
When: January 25th, 2014
Where: Las Canteras, Puerto Real
Who: IES Antonio Muro and a whole ton of other participants of course

Eva and the Bilingual Program gathered up as many students as we could and we ran in a local race in Las Canteras this weekend. We all wore red to show our school pride, and cheered one another on the entire race which was great motivation... some of us needed it, whew! It was beautiful weather, great energy and good times. There were various categories but we all were able to finish and some of us won medals! Congratulations and good work to everyone that came to the race.

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it's 2014 already? We resumed classes today after a nice long break, and it seemed that everyone was tongue-tied as they were speaking English once again, but that's only a fluke. The students are back at it this week and were ready to share what they received from the Three Wise Men. The Christmas recipes were excellent, and I'm sure the cooking just got even better when cooked by the entire family for the Christmas Eve celebration, and then again for New Years Eve. The exams are over with and we are onto bigger and better things this semester. Currently, in Phy Ed we are introducing different topics, such as Gymnastic positions and Line Dancing. It looks intimidating, but here is a videoclip of some of the dance we are learning, from the motion picture SlumDog Millionaire (2008):

And in 2nd of ESO English class, the topic of Family Matters was introduced. Here we have two definitions when we search "Family Matters" into Google.es:
  1. Family Matters: Cosas de casa es una comedia de situación estadounidense sobre una familia afro-americana de clase media que vive en Chicago
  2. It is a play on words with two possible meanings:
Second meaning: Family matters as in family is important
First meaning: Family matters as in family issues.

We will determine the best option for the topic of Family Matters this upcoming week, now won't we?

Xmas recipes:

Our students of 3rd ESO A (2013/2014) baked all this to share in class. (It was delicious!!)

We celebrated these lovely treats and some Christmas songs in the gymnasium after class and got to see some amazing performances based on traditional Christmas stories, like Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer and The Christmas Carol (scrooge!).
